Rumor Mill: Sony working on a new Spider-Man game

Updated

If recent rumors are to be believed, Sony is working on a new PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game. The leaks came from a number of places (Twitter, NeoGAF, Instagram) but it all culminates into a possible big time announcement set for Sony's E3 press conference in June. On top of that, the stars are aligning for 2016 to be the year of Spidey, as he is set to appear in Captain America: Civil War coming up soon.

The evidence the game is being worked on is mounting, and makes sense. It's unknown if Marvel and parent company Disney have any affiliation with this game, since they stopped working with the world's biggest publisher Activision to work on games in-house. Marvel famously pulled a number of Spider-Man games, among other titles, a few years ago from digital platforms and storefronts, so this would be quite the revival for the web slinger.

Above is the tweet from NerdLeaks that kicked things off. Following that was a picture posted by a Mr. Stephen Oyoung who is allegedly working on the game. He mentioned on an online portfolio that he was working on an "unannounced Spider-Man PS4 game". You can take these things with grains of salt, or as smoking guns, but either way somebody is working on something big here. Rumors point to Infamous and Sly Cooper developer Sucker Punch being the ones to make the game for Sony, but we will update you when we find out if this is real or an elaborate hoax, which has happened before.
