The Next Plants vs. Zombies Is A Card Game, Because Someone is Jelly of Hearthstone

Updated

Seriously, you can say a lot of things about the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, but it certainly isn't afraid to adapt to fit into the times, isn't it? And by "adapt to fit into the times" I mean "change drastically what the series is at its very core, because EA needs that sweet sweet franchise money."

All kidding aside, it has been a bit of a surprise that the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series has been so well received and, for that matter, so very good. If you told me around the time the original Plants vs. Zombies came out (which itself was taking advantage of the then recent tower defense mobile craze) that the series would be transformed into a multiplayer first person shooter, I certainly wouldn't have believed you. But now when you stay that Plants vs. Zombies is gearing up to become a collectible online card in the vein of Hearthstone, well, I certainly believe that.

Titled Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, the game will allow players to play as both the zombies AND the plants (woah!) and, y'know, do card game stuff against other players. Do you need a road map for this stuff, it's pretty straightforward. Anyways, the game is apparently being rolled out in "select territories," with a worldwide launch arriving sometime later in the year. Unfortunately, you have to have either an iOS or Android phone in order to play the game, so if you have a console/PC only, you are out of luck. But c'mon, if you want to play this game, you certainly have one of those phone types.

In any case, check out a video below for more info about the game. And for ultimate info, you can check out the game's official website.
