Christina Grimmie's brother, Marcus Grimmie, released a heartfelt statement following the fatal shooting of his sister in Orlando, Florida, on Friday night. The YouTube star and The Voice finalist was 22.

Marcus, who was with Christina at the time of the shooting and attempted to tackle her killer, revealed that his little sister was his "partner in life."

"By now I'm sure many of you have heard that Christina has passed away due to gunfire after a show," he wrote Saturday afternoon on his personal Facebook page. "I really don't have much to say about anything and am just blown away with the prayers and support. I PROMISE I will respond to everyone when I can."

"Christina was more than my sister. She was a partner in life," he continued. "A superstar. A goofball. Introverted. And a friend to everyone. Genuinely. But above all...she was my baby sister. She loved the Lord and her family and was always there for me and I honestly don't know what I'll do without her."

Marcus asked fans to post photos of themselves with Christina and share any memories they had of the late singer.

"I will cherish it forever and always. So please do that for me," he concluded. "Thank you all so so much. The support has been crazy and I do feel at peace. I just don't have any words. I love you all."

Christina was shot Friday night during a meet and greet following her performance with pop-rock band Before You Exit. Approximately 120 people were inside the venue at the time.

The singer was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. According to an employee at the hospital, Christina died shortly after she was brought to the ER. On Saturday, the Orlando Police Department released the name and driver's license photo of the 27-year-old shooter, Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Authorities explained that "the suspect traveled to Orlando apparently to commit this crime, and then had plans to travel back to where he came from." The case is currently under investigation.
