Those Instagram-worthy veggies you see every week at the farmer's market didn't always look so photogenic. A new video from Business Insider shows what produce like carrots, corn, eggplant, and watermelon looked like before they were domesticated by humans, and the truth is kind of scary. The video also includes some seriously cool facts—like did you know that corn is now 1,000 times the size it was before it was domesticated in 7000 BC? And it used to taste like a dry, raw potato. Veggies have been selectively bred, which means that humans picked the plants with the most desirable traits, like sweetness, and kept growing them.
