Weatherman accused of raping woman at his apartment

An Idaho weatherman was arrested and charged with rape after he allegedly attacked a woman that he brought to his home during a date, police said.

KMVT meteorologist John "Jack" Holland, 23, is accused of using "force or violence" to restrain a woman as he assaulted her in his Twin Falls apartment Friday night, authorities said.

The alleged victim told police that she met Holland for a date at a local restaurant, had two-and- a-half drinks and agreed to go back to his apartment to have dinner, according to court documents filed by the Twin Falls County Prosecutors Office.

Once they arrived at the apartment, Holland allegedly poured the woman a "substantial amount of 'Gentleman Jack' whiskey," but she said she did not feel well and laid on the couch.

Holland began asking the woman to "show off" and took off her underwear, the court documents said.

She told police she told him to stop, sitting up on the couch as he began to grab under her dress, but he "led her to his bedroom while she was stumbling."

The woman said Holland removed her dress and pushed her onto his bed, and though she bit at him to try and deter him, he threw a wrapped condom onto her and "it was from this point on that she knew Holland was going to rape her," the court documents said.

She told police she threw the condom back at Holland and repeatedly said "she did not want to do this."

Holland allegedly responded that he was "pro-condom" and put his hand on her throat during the attack.

When he got up, he allegedly said he was "sorry to disappoint" and that he was done, the court documents said.

Holland allegedly "had a concerned look on his face and asked her where she was going" when the woman told him she had to leave, and proceeded to put her underwear in her purse as she left, she told police.

He "told her not to forget them," the court documents said.

The woman told police she scratched Holland during the attack "on his upper chest and shoulder area in an attempt to get Holland's DNA under her fingernails," the documents said.

Police obtained a search warrant for Holland's apartment, where they said they found a blanket that matched one the woman described, and a glass with lipstick matching the description of a tumbler the woman said she drank from.

Investigators said they also uncovered a used condom and a receipt from the restaurant that verified the time the woman said she met Holland there.

Holland was charged with one felony count of rape.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, where a $50,000 bond was requested, but the judge reduced the amount to $10,000. He was out on bail Monday, officials said.

A no-contact order was issued for the alleged victim.

Holland faces one year to life in prison if convicted.

His attorney, Chuck Peterson, said Holland adamantly denied the charge.

"He denies that he committed the crime and we intend to defend it rigorously," Peterson told INSIDE EDITION. "I think the evidence is incredibly thin. That's exactly the case."

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 12, for which Peterson said he is "ready to go."

Holland is a graduate of Florida State University, where he received a degree in meteorology, according to his Facebook page. He currently works as the morning meteorologist for KMVT's "Rise and Shine" program.

"We are reviewing the information provided to us by the court about Mr. Holland's arrest and charge. We take the allegations seriously, and we will follow this situation and report on it as we would any similar case," KMVT General Manager Tim Coles said in a statement.

Coles told TVSpy that Holland is currently on leave.
