The teen threw the hoverboard at a man and shut the door, but a suspect fired a shot through the door, officials said. The bullet reportedly went through a wall and was found on a stove.

Police are searching for the men, who ran off with the hoverboard.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

She was shot in the lower back and the bullet came out of her side, her uncle told Channel 2 Action News.

"He (the gunman) just said, 'Give it up,'" the girl's brother told the television station.

She had been returning to the apartment from a nearby gas station. She had been riding the hoverboard, which was a Christmas present, he said.
