Is this short film Pixar's worst work ever?

'Inside Out' Clip

"Inside Out" is getting glowing reviews from critics and fans alike, for being a "stunningly original concept," "Pixar's best work to date" and all-around mind-blowing.

With a 98 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the Oscar surefire is nothing short of a stunning accomplishment -- but there was one aspect of the "Inside Out" experience that theater-goers just couldn't wrap their heads around.

While "Inside Out" is being hailed Pixar's triumphant return, the short film accompaniment, "Lava," is being slammed as the company's worst work ever.

"Lava," a musical short, follows a lonely anthropomorphic volcano, who sings about his quest to find "someone to lava" -- and meets a very va-va-voom female volcano in the process.

It's not all bad feedback, though, some fans are really digging the "lava story."

For a comparison, check out Pixar's last Academy Award-winning short, "For The Birds," which was shown alongside the theatrical release of "Monsters, Inc." in 2001.
