Tony Hawk announces 2015 release date for newest skateboarding game

Updated

At the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, pro skateboarder Tony Hawk announced that the newest game in his classic skateboarding game franchise will be released in 2015 for the PS4.

The legendary pro skateboarder made the announcement during Sony's keynote speech at CES 2015 on Tuesday. Although announced during Sony's press conference, the new Tony Hawk game wasn't said to be PS4-exclusive.

Hawk's official announcement follows previous tweets in late 2014 that teased his intentions with adding a new title to Tony Hawk game franchise. In November, Hawk tweeted that he was working on a new title in the Tony Hawk gaming franchise with Activision.

No specific details have been released the game's features or how it will play, but fans of the skateboarding game known for it's ridiculous, gravity-defying tricks remain hopeful that the new game will follow in the footsteps of past iterations.

This announcement from Hawk and Sony comes off the back of Sony's latest announcement that the PS4 has sold more than 18.5 million units worldwide.
