World's oldest living person celebrates 116th birthday
The oldest living person on Earth just celebrated her 116th birthday.
Friends, family and even a few lawmakers joined Jeralean Talley at an Inkster, Michigan steakhouse to commemorate another year. She also got a special congratulatory message from President Barack Obama.
Talley says she credits God for being able to live so long — and unlike other supercentenarians, she doesn't have a secret to a long and healthy life.
She told the Associated Press about reaching the milestone, "There's nothing I can do about it."
But she does have a few rules to live by to make all those years count.
She told WJBK, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you that's my way of living. I want to treat everybody the way I want to be treated. If I give you any advice that same advice comes back to me. I don't have much education but what little sense I got, I try to use it."
That and plenty of coffee.
