Game of the Day: Pinochle

It's time to get a bit tricky in the classic card game, and today's Game of the Day, Pinochle.

In Pinochle, you play with four players (including yourself) and a 48-card deck. In order to score points, you by taking tricks and forming combinations of cards into melds.

Each pinochle hand is played in three phases: bidding, melds, and tricks. In the bidding phase, each player bids how much points they think they can earn based on their hand. Every player can choose to bid or pass, until a highest bidder is determined; whoever is the highest bidder gets to determine the trump suit.

Next, in the melding phase, players display their combinations and score accordingly. After that, players can play tricks to gain additional points.
