Actor Liam Neeson Could Vouch For Your Skills On LinkedIn
In case you didn't know, Neeson has a new movie coming out: Taken 3. The series features the character Bryan Mills, a former covert government operative, who is forever having to rescue his family members from bad guys who are angry at Mills and who typically underestimate how dangerous and violent he can be. Here's a quote from the original movie, as provided by the site Rotten Tomatoes:
Ah, skills. That's just what appears in LinkedIn profiles, and you can probably now see the connection. LinkedIn and Fox are cooperating in some cross promotion. In the YouTube video, Neeson says the following:
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
The link in the video takes people to the Taken 3 LinkedIn page, which tells users to follow the page to enter the contest. Nothing skill-shattering there. Apparently Neeson--or Mills or some Fox PR functionary--will put together a Bryan Mills-esque terse, measured, and forceful explanation of why the winner's particular skill set makes them a nightmare for people like you, or maybe something else. It's not clear how this endorsement is really going help either the winner or Neeson, who might be wondering whether another interview on a late night show might not have been a more palatable option.
I could always use another professional. If you think you're qualified, go to this address. Follow the instructions there exactly. For one lucky applicant, I will find your LinkedIn profile. I will review it. I will record a video of myself endorsing your particular set of skills.
How about Liam Neeson's LinkedIn page? Does he even have one? It's a little hard to tell. Search for the actor's name on LinkedIn and you get a list of 13 profiles. There is a U.K. electrician, someone who works at Yes Bank in Las Vegas, a student at O'Connor Catholic College in New South Wales, Australia, and someone listed as a "vital member of Kardashian family at Keeping Up." One Liam Neeson is a "public policy professional" in the U.K. Perhaps a reference to his advocacy for drivers of horse-drawn carriages in New York City? Oh, there's also the "DJ/actor/Jedi master" in Toronto. No picture, though, so perhaps it's a prank.
Then again, maybe he keeps a secret profile under the name of his Taken character, Bryan Mills. He probably has the skills to pull it off.
