Sharon Osbourne Lost a Tooth on Live TV

Anyone who's ever worked in live television knows that you can't always control what goes on in front of the camera. And that when something goes wrong, it goes wrong in front of an audience of millions. Sharon Osbourne got a bracing reminder of that reality on Tuesday, when one of her front teeth fell out during a live taping of her CBS show The Talk.

"Oh s***! My tooth is falling off!" she cried, appropriately enough, when she noticed that something felt like it was coming loose in her mouth. A moment later the tooth was in her hand, and Osbourne turned to the camera to show a fresh gap on her right side (which was either disturbing or slightly endearing, depending on your point of view). Fortunately, the tooth was only an implant, so any dental professionals in the audience could remain seated for the duration of the show.

"I spent a bloody fortune on this f***ing thing!" cried Osbourne. "Seriously, has anyone got any glue? We have to take an emergency tooth break."

But you know what they say: the show must go on. And go on it did, as Osbourne interviewed guest Lisa Kudrow sans dent, occasionally moving her hand to hide the gap in her mouth. Even by the heavy metal standards of the Osbourne family (husband Ozzy famously once bit the head off a live bat), that's pretty hardcore. Anyone looking to make it in television--on or off camera--should take notes.
