Sega kicked off the sixth console generation in North America with The Sega Dreamcast on September 9, 1999. Although initially well received, the Dreamcast was unable to compete with Playstation 2 because of its inability to play DVD's and was discontinued on March 30, 2001. Regardless, there were many great games that came out for the Dreamcast and the console still holds a fond place in the hearts of many gamers.
