The 5 reasons you'll want the iPhone 6

Updated

Today Apple officially announced the iPhone 6 and the larger iPhone 6 Plus-- along with iOS 8 and the new iWatch-- at the Apple Conference in Cupertino, CA. In what seems to be Apple's greatest advancement in years, the iPhone 6 is not short of exciting new features. From Retina HD display, to more GB and a sleeker design-- we can't wait to get our hands on this powerful device.

The mobile experts at Modojo are here with five reasons you'll love the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus:

1. A massively revamped camera

Much has been said about the inner workings of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but the camera is certainly at the heart of things. And it's never sounded more lucrative. Since the devices are much slimmer than they used to be, Apple needed to tweak the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cameras to ensure they'd still be up to snuff. While the lens is largely the same with 8 megapixels, there's a new iSight camera with FocusPixels technology, f/2.2 aperture, and true tone flash. FocusPixels is a helpful tool that allows the camera to focus twice as fast on the subject, along with noise reduction and next-gen tone mapping. An improved image signal sensor in the A8 processor also allows for better face detection. In short, selfies are about to get a lot more professional, especially when you consider the possibilities of burst selfies, digital image stabilization, and an improved FaceTime HD camera aperture that lets in 81 percent more light.

2. Improved battery life

How many times have you been checking out the latest news online or needing to check times for the movie you're seeing only to find that your phone is dead? The iPhone 6 features 11 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of LTE browsing, and 14 hours of 3G talk time. The iPhone 6 Plus will allow 14 hours of video and 24 hours of 3G talk time. Finally, no more worrying about having to juice up every few hours.

3. Apple Pay

Apple Pay is poised to blow the lid off the mobile payment game, and from what we've seen so far, this could very well happen. Apple Pay will allow you to scan in your credit cards and other important cards in your wallet and you'll be able to pay at over 220,000 different storefronts and locations with a single tap. None of your card information will be shared with the merchant, and you won't even have to supply your address every time you make a purchase. Not only will this simplify the way we buy and sell goods, but it could tremendously cut down on the amount of credit card fraud seen amongst heavy card users. Apple announced partnerships with merchants like McDonald's, Whole Foods, Sephora, Staples, Subway, Disney, and more -- you'll even be able to request an Uber car with Apple Pay without having ever signed up for the service. It's all coming, and it may have taken a while to get here, it certainly looks worth the wait.

4. Awesome fitness tracking capabilities

The addition of the M8 chip makes certain that the kind of processing power needed to evaluate important metrics for fitness is absolutely possible with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and it's an exciting prospect. The new sensor will know whether you're walking, running, climbing stairs, riding a bike, and more by using its very own barometer. HealthKit has also been improved as well, so if you've been looking for a device that can quell all of your fitness needs, one of these phones could very well be the last place you need to look, especially with the Apple Watch's capabilities.

5. iOS 8 is not just an old dog with new tricks

We may have to wait a little while to test-drive iOS 8, but it's already clear that it's a force to be reckoned with. iOS 8 will allow us to use Apple Pay, as previously mentioned, internally via Passbook without storing credit card numbers and instead creating device IDs for each card, including the ones you're already using for the iTunes Store. Additionally, the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screen allows for new navigational features that iOS 8 will bring with it. Horizontal mode allows you to swipe back and forth while in landscape mode, and other cool tweaks that you won't know you even wanted until you've got them in your hand.
