Far Cry 4: NYC Ubisoft Preview Event

Updated

One of the biggest games to come out of E3 this year was Far Cry 4. Everyone from industry insiders to attendees were marveled of the visual stylings, graphics, and overall explosive gameplay. Far Cry 4 takes place in the fictional Himalayan region named Kyrat. The player assumes the role of Ajay Ghale attempting to fulfill his mother's dying wish of having her ashes released in her home country, but is caught up in a bloody civil war against "a despotic self-appointed" king.

I had the opportunity to play two of the three games modes available in Far Cry 4: a stealth mode, where the player must use a cross-bow and daggers to sneak their way through the fortress, and an action mode, where the player gets to rampage the fortress on the back of a monstrous elephant, guns-a-blazin'! The third game mode allows you to take the fortress from above in an aircraft.

All modes are available to play in co-op multiplayer. One of the greatest innovations of Far Cry 4 is the ability to play with friends online, even if they don't own the game. It will be interesting to see if other games will follow suit!

Joe Tirado of Shacknews had a chat with Rafael Parent, lead developer of Far Cry 4, to get an insider's look:

Far Cry 4 is expected to release November 18th, 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – along with Windows PC.
