Are Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs connected?

Updated

Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed are two series that show the importance of storytelling in today's video games, but did you know that they may be connected with each other?

Shacknews points to an interview with Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag director Ashraf Ismail where he says, "I don't want to ruin the surprise for people. I don't want to give anything away."

"I will say, for the people who love both games, for the people who will play both games, there are some Easter eggs that will be a bit hard to find, but when you find them, it will blow your mind."

In Watch Dogs, we've noticed that Abstergo's entertainment division, well known as the shadow corporation behind much of Assassin's Creed's lore, makes an appearance in a corporate complex in downtown Chicago.

In fact, if you look at some emails, you can even see Abstergo's COO receive emails from the Blume Corporation, the antagonist in Watch Dogs. More snooping will reveal that there are even conversations about the Assassin's Creed games themselves within the world of Watch Dogs. If you remember correctly, the Assassin's Creed games are used within Assassin's Creed's story as a way to hide Abstergo's true intentions from the public.

The full article is definitely worth a read if you're interested in either Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed, or are just interested in how two fictional worlds can collide in these story-rich games.
