Last night Nintendo invited us to an exclusive sit-down with the developers of the upcoming Wii U game Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and we learned quite a few things about this hotly-anticipated brawler.

First off, the cast of characters is growing, this time with a new classic video game hero from years ago. Pac-Man joins Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog as non-Nintendo characters who you'll be able to use in the game. They provided a trailer to show off his fighting style, including some pixelated special moves (clever use of old school arcade art).

We also learned that all characters can now have customized special moves, so if you play Mario and you want to change up his fireball to go slower or faster, or have him throw something completely different, now you can do that. Pretty cool!

Other tidbits we learned had to do with Amiibos, the newly-announced toy line coming out later this year from Nintendo. Amiibos will allow you to use special figurines to bring new characters into the game, and the developers expanded on how those characters can level up while you play through the game.

Head over to Shacknews for the full write-up, including more information on Mii fighters and online play, and check out this new video with Sam hitting the Nintendo booth at E3 2014 for some crowd reaction to Super Smash Bros.
