citizenM Times Square, Portland's Residence Inn by Marriott and Iconic Santorini: 3 Hotel Openings
New York City, New York: citizenM Times Square
The 230-room citizenM Times Square opened last week in New York, near the intersection of 50th and Broadway, the heart of the Theater District. With oversized leather couches and ample lighting, the common living-room areas are clearly designed for use rather than show. HotelChatter reports that the rooms are a bit tight, but with no hidden costs, the WiFi, in-room water and all TV channels (yes, all of them) are included with your stay. Rates start around $199.
Portland, Oregon: Residence Inn by Marriott in Downtown/Pearl District
Last month it was the Sentinel opening in downtown Portland, this month it's the Residence Inn by Marriott in Downtown/Pearl District. The 223-suite, six-story building is the first hotel in the Pearl District, "a thriving, revitalized area of the inner city that is internationally recognized for its successful urban renewal efforts," at least according to the folks promoting the hotel. In addition to the city, the floor-to-celing windows afford views of the Cascade Mountains and the Willamette River. Rates start at $139 a night.
Imerovigli, Greece: Iconic Santorini
There's a time for Santorini. And it's always. Opening just last week, the 22-room, five-level Iconic Santorini is recreated from authentic homes and shops in Imervogli, the highest village on the volcanic caldera. Three suites have their own private veranda pools, the spa has an indoor grotto and all guests have access to the outdoor infinity pool and sunbathing on the public terrace. While the boutique's cave rooms are unique, all accommodations offer four-layer beds, flat-screen TVs with international satellite channels and personal lounge seating on terraces overlooking the caldera. Rates state at 475€ (about $656).
