How To Create The Best Character In The Elder Scrolls Online

Creating a character in The Elder Scrolls Online is a little tricky: there are so many options! Alliances, races, classes... what's the difference between all of them, and how do you create the most optimal character based on your interests and gaming preferences?

IGN's Shawn Saris has a handy little video that clears up a lot of character-creation confusion. While there aren't really any bad choices you make when you're customizing your character, there are certainly some steps you can take to make sure your ESO experience is optimized. For example, it's important to consider the fact that different Alliances (there are 3) start in different areas, and they're associated with different races. So if you want to play with your friends, make sure you're all in the same Alliance.

And before you start by picking a race, it might be helpful to first pick a class (Templar, Dragon Knight, Nightblade, or Sorcerer). These will narrow down some of the traits that are important to you and your character.
