Spring break in the country's fourth-largest city can be summed up in a single word: diverse. Want spicy Asian cuisine. Houston's got that. Canoeing down a bayou? Got it. World-class wine? Haute couture shopping? Soccer stars? Check, check and check. Oh, and we've got mutton bustin', too.

Worship Water: Moody Gardens
A fun water-centric activity

With an aquarium, a rainforest pyramid and even a beach, Moody Gardens ($10.95 for adults, $8.95 for kids) in Galveston is a one-stop destination for communing with H20. One of its gems is a replica of 1800s paddlewheel boat called the Colonel, which you can hop on for a cruise.

Where to get a great tropical drink

Tucked in the middle of funky Lower Westheimer, Anvil Bar and Refuge began Houston's craft cocktail revival. Get your tiki drink fix here with classics like the Mai Tai ($10), Blue Hawaiian ($9) and Zombie ($12). Bonus: the bartenders can tell you the history of each one.

Closer Than Disney World: Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
A great activity for kids and families

Saddle up and show your cowboy spirit at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at Reliant Park March 4-23. A carnival, interactive agriculture exhibits, big-name concerts and rodeo action await. Kids will love the pig races and can take a shot at Mutton Bustin', trying to stay on a sheep for eight seconds.

Catch Some Rays:The Grove
A place to eat or drink outdoors

The Grove is an oasis in Downtown's Discovery Green Park. Up on the roofdeck, comfy sofas and wooden tables offer a panoramic view of the skyline and the park. The downstairs desk is an oasis in the greenspace, both perfect options to soak up the sun.
