Call it real estate solace: Media magnate Rupert Murdoch lost his $44 million Fifth Avenue penthouse in his divorce, so he's buying himself an even bigger, pricier pad. According to the Wall Street Journal, the 82-year-old businessman is under contract to buy the top four floors of One Madison, a sleek 60-floor tower. Murdoch is reportedly paying $57.25 million for the downtown condo. The New York Daily News notes it's the most expensive property ever purchased below 57th Street, but no worries, Murdoch can afford it. According to Forbes magazine, as of September 2013, his net worth was $13.4 billion.

The News Corp. and 21st Century Fox chairman (pictured at right) bought floors 57 to 60 of the slender bronze and glass skyscraper, which total 10,160 square feet. The space is currently occupied by two separate units: a five bedroom, 5.5 bathroom penthouse with wraparound terrace and the three-bedroom apartment below. Both units offer floor-to-ceiling windows with soaring 360-degree views. It seems likely Murdoch will combine the two living spaces.

Murdoch and his third wife, Wendi Deng, ended their 14-year marriage in November 2013. Deng and the couple's two daughters will reportedly continue to live in the Fifth Avenue apartment.
