Scottie and Larsa Pippen's Home Relisted, Again
By Erika Riggs
Basketball legend Scottie Pippen is learning the hard way that selling a luxury home isn't as easy as, say, picking up six NBA titles. After retiring from the Chicago Bulls, Pippen and his wife, Larsa, moved to Florida, where they each faced their own hardships: Pippen found himself in the middle of some bad business deals and ended up suing his money manager, while Larsa was taken off "Real Housewives of Miami" after just one season.
The couple decided to head back to Chicago, and put their mammoth Fort Lauderdale mansion on the market for $16 million. That was back in 2010. Four years later, the Pippens are still in Chicago, and their Florida residence still hasn't sold.
The 13,500-square-foot home at 2571 Del Lago Drive has bounced on and off the market over the past few years, dropping its asking price each time. Most recently the home was delisted late in 2012, only to be relisted a month later. In April 2013, the property's price was dropped to $11.8 million. The home was de-listed again and recently reappeared on the MLS in late January.
The Pippens bought the double lot in October 2000 for $1.34 million. They proceeded to have the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom Mediterranean-style mansion custom designed and updated the property to include an outdoor basketball court, outdoor kitchen, playground and putting green, as well as a movie theater, club room and wine cellar.
In 2013, it was announced that the Pippens would star in a new reality show about their lives in Chicago called "Big Pippen"; recent reports indicate the show was quietly abandoned.
