Pentagon Awards Only $78 Million in Defense Contracts Tuesday

The Department of Defense awarded only four defense contracts Tuesday, worth a total of $78.5 million. These included three contracts awarded to publicly traded companies, namely:

  • Airbus subsidiary EADS-NA was awarded a $22.8 million contract modification instructing it to supply the U.S. Army with four UH-72A Lakota helicopters, equipped with engine inlet barrier filters and ARC-231 radios by March 31, 2015.

  • Luxottica Group subsidiary Eye Safety Systems was awarded the third of four possible option-year extensions on a contract to supply an unspecified number of "prescription lens carriers" to U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies through March 2, 2015. This extension will be worth up to $9.8 million.

  • Jacobs/Stantec, a joint venture between Jacobs Engineering and Canada's Stantec , won a $9.5 million firm-fixed-price contract to perform architectural and engineering services for U.S. Army, Air Force, and other military and civil works projects -- primarily within the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division boundaries. This contract will run through Feb. 17, 2019.
