The European Union is removing static renewable energy generation targets from its member countries, but still aims to target 27% of electric generation by renewable sources by 2030. With electricity bills soaring due to subsidized renewable energy, Germany is changing course via Chancellor Angela Merkel's proposal to cut renewable subsidies and charge owners of renewable energy plants for their own use of electricity. The EU is trying to boost its manufacturing arm, but will reduced renewable subsidies knock out utility-scale solar companies in the interim?
