NVIDIA's Tegra K1 Needs More Than Microsoft to Succeed

If you've found yourself wondering whether NVIDIA Corporation's recently announced Tegra K1 mobile processor will actually find a home, we've got great news for you.

Specifically, rumors have surfaced saying the 64-bit version of Tegra K1 has earned a spot in Microsoft's upcoming Surface 3 tablet, which is apparently pegged for launch in the second half of this year.

But according to the Fool's Steve Symington in the following video, while you can bet NVIDIA is happy for the win, its inclusion in Microsoft's products aren't exactly a surprise considering earlier Tegra processors already power each of the Surface 3's predecessors. What's more, Microsoft's Surface sales haven't exactly been encouraging so far, so NVIDIA's Tegra K1 will certainly need more design wins to prove a success in today's ultra-competitive market.
