NextEra Energy Fires Up 20 MW Solar Farm

NextEra Energy announced today that it has begun commercial operation of its 20 MW Mountain View Solar Energy Project located in North Las Vegas.

The latest addition to NextEra Energy's renewable energy portfolio, Mountain View's 84,000 photovoltaic solar panels will push power to Berkshire Hathaway-owned NV Energy. As is often the case with energy agreements between power producers and regulated utilities, NV Energy will purchase NextEra Energy's electricity via a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).

"We are proud to be a part of an initiative that not only supports NV Energy's renewable energy supply, but has also helped to power Clark County's local economy," said NextEra Energy Resources President and CEO Armando Pimentel in a statement. "Reaching this important project milestone would not have been possible without the cooperation and hard work of all of our project partners."

NextEra Energy claims the title of largest solar energy generator in the world, with 158 MW owned and 320 MW overall to its name.
