Pentagon Awards $110 Million in Defense Contracts Wednesday

The Department of Defense awarded only five new defense contracts Wednesday, worth just $110.2 million in total. Publicly traded defense contractors claimed two of the contracts:

General Electric's GE Healthcare division was awarded an option exercise worth up to $43.2 million to exercise a fifth option year of supplying U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agencies with patient monitoring systems, subsystems, accessories, consumables, and spare parts, plus training services, through Jan. 13, 2015.

BAE Systems was awarded a $13.9 million contract funding additional upgrades and maintenance work upon the USS Wasp (LHD 1) while it is in dry-dock. This contract will now run through Nov. 2.
