2013 Travel Favorites: Road Trips

To closeout the year, AOL Travel asked our colleagues at MapQuest about their 2013 travel and plans for next year. Despite being busy with the releases of critically acclaimed major updates to their iPhone and Android apps, MapQuest employes took some killer trips in 2013. Responses are in no particular order. We've shared our own, too. Readers, feel free to do likewise in the comments.

Andrew Biviano, Audience Development:Vail

David Kenna, Director of PMO: Princeton, NJ

Jeff Keil, Product Designer: Colorado to Utah

Sarai Hopfe, Contracts Manger: Denver, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Bryce, Goblin Valley State Park

Jess Moss, Senior Editor: Pacific Coast Highway! I rented a car and made my way up the coast staying with California friends along the way. First time doing the drive –- I actually enjoyed doing it alone because I could stop every two minutes to hike or take pics without annoying anyone.

Jake Thiewes, Editor: A three-day-weekend drive to my alma mater (to share career advice with seniors in my field), followed by a jaunt to the mountains of West Virginia to run in the cold, nasty mud for 12 miles at Tough Mudder. Good times, challenging times and a ton of personal accomplishment.

Elizabeth McIlhany, Sr. Product Manager: Santa Fe

Tim Baldwin, Account Director, Central Region: Northern Michigan/Upper Peninsula Michigan

Tiffany Herrick, Business Planning, B2B and Customer Support: Healdsburg, CA (small-scale wine area –- great wine and amazing farm-fresh food)

Andy McMahon, Director, Product Management -- Search and Local Data: Whatever road leads to Dulles Airport, Reagan National or Washington Union Station -– they lead to awesome adventures.

Zach Everson, Travel news/travel buzz editor: Watoga State Park in West Virginia for a family reunion

Justin Paluch, UX Lead: Denver to Tucson and back.

TaraLynn Morana, West Region Sales: Driving to Monterey, CA

SuAnne Hall, Designer: Fall foliage trip to the CO Mountains -– the aspens were amazing

Laura Maxwell, Marketing Manager: Road tripping from Boulder, CO to Telluride, CO for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. We camped in the Uncompahgre Wilderness and explored SW Colorado before and after the festival. My husband and I love road tripping and discovering amazing mountain biking spots in Colorado.

Beth Warner, Senior Software QA Engineer: Our summer road trip –- Reno, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Big Bear Lake, Malibu, Las Vegas and many stops in between!

Natty Zola, Director of Product: Didn't do many, but the best was driving to Devil's Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado.

Michael Yessis, Editor in Chief: Family summer trek through Pennsylvania, into the Poconos and down through Baltimore for Attman's and a stop at the National Aquarium.

Austin Brown, UX Lead: Denver, CO --> Crested Butte, Co
