Discover Something New at Home in Indianapolis

Soldiers and Sailors Monument Indianapolis
Naptowners, as the cool kids say these days, are a little hoarse from all the cheering lately. The Pacers started the season on a tear, and Andrew Luck is still basking in the glow of his instant-classic win against Peyton Manning in October. Pack your face paint and party with the rabid sports crowd on Georgia Street, gussied up last year for the Super Bowl.

New Restaurant:Bakersfield Mass Ave

The '90s sponge-paint job is long gone at the old Bazbeaux pizzeria downtown, where Bakersfield Mass Ave hung its hat in the spring touting tacos, tequila and whiskey. The hipster honky-tonk has the longest lines in town now, and evidently enough cowboy-boot beer mugs to go around. Try the short-rib torta.

Place to Bring a Little "Home" Home with You: People for Urban Progress

People for Urban Progress keeps refreshing its popular line of bags made from the RCA Dome roof material, salvaged years ago. Now it includes bike panniers and clutches. Little-known fact: You can buy the nearly indestructible wares straight from the workroom during business hours. Find it deep inside the scruffy-cool Murphy Building in Fountain Square.

Word on the Street

On the strength of one delicate, bittersweet EP and a plug, breakout artists Lily & Madeleine were anointed the new queens of Indy's music scene by the end of the summer. The sisters' first full-length album debuted in October with a promo blitz in New York, London, Paris and Berlin. They're going to be huge.
