Boeing Awarded Harpoon Anti-Ship Missile Export Contract
The Department of Defense announced 16 new defense contracts worth a combined $712.1 million on Tuesday. Boeing won two of them.
The larger of the two awards, worth $82 million, is a delivery order under an existing contract to provide "integrated fleet support" for U.S. Air Force C-32A and C-40B/C transport aircraft, and will run through Dec. 3, 2014.
The smaller award, worth $70 million, consists of a firm-fixed-price contract to supply U.S. Navy and other customers with:
12 encapsulated Harpoon all-up round tactical anti-ship missiles.
Five Harpoon Grade B exercise missiles.
Two encapsulated Harpoon certification training vehicles and shipping containers.
100 Harpoon improved fuse booster kits.
50 Harpoon improved fuse kits.
Two Harpoon blast test vehicles.
Associated hardware and containers for the missiles.
Only about 3.4% of these materials will be going to the U.S. Navy. The bulk of the contract is destined for buyers in Australia, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Deliveries should be completed in December 2014.
