Netflix to Launch New DreamWorks Animation Series

Netflix is reaching out to the kid market with its latest offering. It announced it will start airing a children's television series, Turbo FAST, on Dec. 24. The show is the product of DreamWorks Animation , which has populated it with characters from its 2013 feature film Turbo.

The first five episodes of the series will be immediately available for viewing, with fresh ones premiering throughout next year. This release schedule is in contrast to the video rental purveyor's adult series such as House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black. For those offerings, the company made all Season 1 episodes available at once.

Turbo FAST is Netflix's first foray into original programming for the under-18 set. It should attract a considerable audience given the success of the movie its derived from, which grossed $280 million in box office receipts worldwide against a production budget of $135 million.
