Will Black Friday Be a Dark Day for Tech's Biggest Names?
Black Friday is nearly upon us, and Apple , Microsoft , and Google all have things up their sleeves.
Microsoft will be offering discounts on a wide range of devices, including those made by third-party OEMs. The most aggressive discount will be on Microsoft's first-generation Surface RT, which will be slashed to $199. That's down from its regular price point of $350, suggesting that Microsoft is desperate to unload inventory.
Apple also typically participates in Black Friday sales, but its discounts tend to be less aggressive than its rivals, since Apple likes to maintain its premium perception as much as possible. In fact, better deals on Apple products can usually be found through third-party discount retailers.
Google could even be preparing to release its second-generation Nexus 10 on Black Friday, as a refresh is probably imminent.
