UPS Raises Rates 4.9%

Every year this time of year, UPS announces its latest plans for rate hikes in the year to come. On Thursday, the parcel shipper announced plans for a 4.9% average-rate increase in 2014 on packages delivered by UPS Ground, Air, and International.

Air Freight deliveries within and among the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico -- including UPS Next Day Air Freight, UPS 2nd Day Air Freight, and UPS 3 Day Freight, and also U.S.-origin UPS Express Freight shipments -- will likewise rise by an average of 4.9%.

"Select" other fees will also increase, including an extra $0.25 handling surcharge, $0.35 for address corrections, and other fees.


All of these rate increases go into effect on Dec. 30, 2013, at which time the 2014 UPS Rate and Service Guide will become available for download. Those who can't wait that long can see the new rates can be review them on UPS's website.
