Rather than transport millions of gallons of fracking waste water using trains and trucks, the idea of utilizing river barges is now up for a vote. The United States Coast Guard believes it can be done in an environmentally safe way and would take 70 tractor trailers out of service per per barge. This could be disasterous to the oil and gas operations of companies such as Clean Harbors , Nuverra Environmental Solutions and Waste Connections .
