Boeing's Order Book Booms
Boeing released its latest report on airplane orders received -- and canceled -- through the first 10 months of 2013 on Thursday.
To date, the aerospace giant has booked:
907 "gross" orders for various flavors of its 737 regional airliner
133 orders for the 787 Dreamliner
50 for the 777 airliner
10 747 orders.
For context, that's twice as many 747s, a half-dozen more 777s, 65 more 737s, and a single Dreamliner more than what the company had on its order books just two weeks ago. According to the company, 20 of the new 737s will be going to Aerolineas Argentinas, two to Israel's El Al, one to a "Business Jet / VIP Customer," and 42 more to unidentified "customers(s)."
As for the rest, literally all of the other planes added to Boeing's order book will be going to Korean Air -- all five 747s, all six 777s, and the single new Dreamliner.
Net of orders lost to cancellation -- 131 737s, eight Triple-7s, five 747s, and one Dreamliner -- Boeing is left with a total of 955 commercial airplanes ordered year to date.
