Chinese Consumers Unwilling to Pay for High-End Phones

Chinese Web giant SINA has a report out regarding a survey of Chinese smartphone consumers. The survey, which had 670,000 respondents, showed that consumers are highly concentrated in mid-range price points. Close to 90% of this population will pay $165-$330 for a smartphone.

The Chinese smartphone market continues to be the biggest in the world. Xiaomi is an up-and-comer competing with names like Huawei and ZTE. Companies like Apple still see a benefit from staying in the high end of the market, because that's where the margin is.
