Apple Needs a Game-Changing Moment

Apple needs a game console to take full advantage of the variety of iOS games now available, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

The best solution? Apple TV, Tim says. There's already a variety of game controllers in development for both the iPhone and the iPad. Apple TV runs on the same system, and with a more expansive hard drive could easily host the sorts of complex games common to consoles such as the Xbox and PS4, Tim argues.

Meanwhile, iOS continues to offer free console lead-ins for Time Warner, among other publishers. Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham Origins have proven to be popular downloads in recent months. Bulking up the Apple TV to also support the console versions could help the Mac maker compete for business among video gamers who tend to prefer PCs, Tim says.
