Despite Its Tardiness, Can Nokia Crack Into the Tablet Market?

It may be late, but Nokia has now jumped into the tablet market with the freshly unveiled Lumia 2520, a polycarbonate device running Microsoft's Windows RT. That's a peculiar choice, considering every other OEM has abandoned Microsoft's controversial operating system in favor of the full-featured Windows 8 for most tablets. Windows RT lacks a strong app ecosystem, as well as legacy app support, which severely limits its capabilities.

Furthermore, Nokia is targeting a premium price point of $500, putting the Lumia 2520 directly in competition with Apple's iPad. No other company has successfully challenged Apple at the $500 price point, yet Nokia is intent on giving it a shot. That's even before you consider Nokia's $150 keyboard accessory, which is almost a necessity for buyers to fully experience the tablet, much like with Surface. This doesn't look like it's going to end well for Nokia.
