ZELTIQ®Aesthetics Launches CoolConnect™ and Training Center

New Marketing and Training Initiatives to be Announced at Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2013

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ZELTIQ® Aesthetics, Inc. (NAS: ZLTQ) , a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing products utilizing its proprietary controlled-cooling technology platform, today announced the launches of CoolConnect and the ZELTIQ Training Center, two of the company's newest practice partnering initiatives, at Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2013, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) annual meeting in San Diego, October 11-15, 2013.

CoolConnect is a connectivity and data management product that will enable CoolSculpting providers to optimize their marketing efforts based on key insights and data collected in-office on the CoolSculpting® System, marking the first time in the aesthetics industry that physicians will have access to data to help them make fact-based decisions about their business. Physicians will receive reports analyzing their practice-specific data in comparison to national averages. CoolConnect, which is already installed in more than 600 CoolSculpting systems in the United States, is being rolled out throughout the country and soon in the direct and indirect markets worldwide where CoolSculpting is available.

"With CoolConnect, I can now gauge the impact of my CoolSculpting patient events and marketing programs and gain a better understanding of the return on my investment," said Jennifer Harrington, MD, founder of Harrington Plastic Surgery, in Plymouth and Edina, Minn. "I see CoolConnect as a very powerful and valuable practice development tool."

The ZELTIQ Training Center (ZTC), located next to the corporate headquarters in Pleasanton, Calif., is a state-of-the-art CoolSculpting training facility complete with a classroom capable of accommodating up to 30 attendees and five treatment rooms. The ZTC's first program, CoolSculpting University, brings together CoolSculpting providers from new practices from across the country for a two-day training course. The goal is to provide one-of-a-kind training to new customers that will enable them to launch CoolSculpting in a successful and strategic manner within the first 90 days of owning the system. The curriculum features hands-on education, live treatments and lecture-style presentations. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to educate their patients about CoolSculpting, how to create the best possible experience for their patients, and how to create reproducible CoolSculpting treatment outcomes with "wow" results.

"The training, trainers and content all exceeded my expectations," said Nadia Zinchuk, BScN, RN, of INLIV in Calgary, Alberta, who attended a recent session of CoolSculpting University. "ZELTIQ really cares about their customers and making their practices a success."

"Our goal is to be the best possible practice partner and we seek every opportunity to reinforce that commitment to our physicians," said Mark Foley, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The unique ongoing marketing and educational support we offer via CoolConnect and the ZELTIQ Training Center, respectively, will help physicians realize the growth potential CoolSculpting presents for their practices."

To date, more than 1,700 systems in over 55 countries have performed more than 700,000 treatments worldwide. CoolSculpting results in an undeniable reduction of fat in the treated areas, with the most dramatic results occurring over a period of one to three months. Every patient is unique, which is why ZELTIQ recommends a customized treatment plan as part of the initial consultation. Additional treatments in the same or multiple areas may help to enhance the desired aesthetic effect.

About ZELTIQ®Aesthetics, Inc.

ZELTIQis a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing products utilizing its proprietary controlled-cooling technology platform. ZELTIQ's first commercial product, the CoolSculpting System, is designed to selectively reduce stubborn fat that may not respond to diet or exercise. CoolSculpting is based on the scientific principle that fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the overlying skin and surrounding tissues. It utilizes patented technology of precisely controlled cooling to reduce the temperature of fat cells in the treated area, which is intended to cause fat cell elimination through a natural biological process known as apoptosis. ZELTIQ developed CoolSculpting to safely, noticeably, and measurably reduce the fat layer.

In the United States CoolSculpting is cleared for non-invasive fat reduction of the abdomen and flank.
