Occidental Keeps Dividend Steady

OccidentalPetroleum is continuing to pump out dividends for its shareholders. The company has declared its latest quarterly common stock distribution, which is to be $0.64 per share paid on January 15, 2014 to shareholders of record as of December 10. That amount matches each of the oil concern's three preceding distributions, the most recent of which is to be dispensed next Tuesday. Prior to that, Occidental paid $0.10 less, or $0.54 per share.

The firm has been a very sturdy dividend payer for decades. In the press release announcing the latest disbursement, it took pains to mention that it has dispensed quarterly distributions continuously since 1975, increasing them every year since 2002.

The just-declared dividend annualizes to $2.56 per share. That yields 2.7% at Occidental's most recent closing stock price of $95.10.
