PROTECT Selects Guidance Software and Digital Intelligence to Help Wounded Warriors Stop Crimes Against Children

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Guidance Software Inc. (NAS: GUID) , the World Leader in Digital Investigations™, today announced a partnership with Digital Intelligence and the National Association to Protect Children, known as PROTECT, to make available computer forensic tools and training to uncover online child exploitation and rescue children in danger. PROTECT has developed a program to train wounded warriors to conduct the digital investigations and expand law enforcement efforts.

PROTECT has a mission to protect children from abuse and exploitation. The organization has grown in size and support since it was founded in 2003, and its list of accomplishments includes drafting and supporting the passage of the landmark legislation, Alicia's Law.

The trained wounded veterans will become members of an elite national corps of H.E.R.O.s (Human Exploitation Rescue Operatives). The program enables returning military veterans to gain a new, marketable skill while supplementing the understaffed federal law enforcement agencies and state ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) task forces who are overwhelmed with growing case loads. Each H.E.R.O. recruit will be provided one Digital Intelligence UltraKit™, including a Tableau TD3 Forensic Imager.

PROTECT's Executive Director Grier Weeks identified Guidance Software and Digital Intelligence as resources to provide the latest in digital forensic equipment and training. Guidance Software has long been the leader in developing Tableau® forensic hardware products and EnCase® software to investigate computer crimes. Digital Intelligence, a top reseller of Tableau products, is a leader in developing forensic computer systems and an authorized training partner for Guidance Software.

According to Grier, "The contribution of equipment and digital forensic tools from Guidance Software and Digital Intelligence were critical to not only providing the wounded veterans the required tools for starting investigations, but also injecting hope and energy into an organization and cause that is eager to rescue abused children."

"We are honored to have been selected to partner with PROTECT in what we believe to be one of the most important uses of our technology—protecting children," said Jim Borecki, vice president, Forensic Business Unit of Guidance Software. "We have long supported ICAC and other organizations that seek to protect children and look forward to working with the H.E.R.O.s to help them make a difference."
