Avnet Names David Bent Senior Vice President of Information Technology
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that David Bent has joined the Avnet Global Information Solutions team as a senior vice president of information technology (IT). Bent will be responsible for providing IT leadership for Avnet Electronics Marketing, a global operating group of Avnet, Inc., that distributes electronic components from leading manufacturers and provides associated design-chain and supply-chain services. As a member of both the global IT leadership team and the Avnet Electronics Marketing global leadership team, Bent will report to Steve Phillips, Avnet's chief information officer (CIO), and will work closely with Gerry Fay, global president of Avnet Electronics Marketing.

With more than 30 years of IT experience, Bent brings a wealth of international experience to his new role, having most recently served as CIO at United Stationers Inc. Prior to United Stationers Inc., Bent held leadership positions at Visteon Ford and Acterna. His international business acumen was acquired through his experiences during multiple overseas assignments, including four years in the U.K. and 11 years in Germany. Bent holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Bristol, England.
