SGI Makes an Acquisition

SGI can add a new name to its list of assets. The company announced it has acquired FileTek, a privately held data storage solutions provider. The terms of the deal were not made public.

In the press release announcing the news, SGI waxed enthusiastic about the highly complementary nature of its acquisition. It quoted CEO Jorge Titinger as saying that having FileTek in its fold "enables existing and new customers to align both unstructured and structured data with the most cost effective storage throughout its lifecycle, with seamless user access and reliable petascale protection."
