Cirrus Logic Makes an Acquisition

Analog and mixed-signal chip designer Cirrus Logicannounced today it acquired embedded firmware voice processing technology leader Acoustic Technologies, which employs 30 people who have since been hired by Cirrus Logic. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Welcoming the Acoustic team to the chip designer, Cirrus Logic President and CEO Jason Rhode said, "We expect the combination of sophisticated voice-processing algorithms and Cirrus Logic's market leading audio hardware to provide a very compelling value proposition for our customers."

Acoustics technology includes noise reduction, echo cancelation, and voice enhancement. Based in Austin, Texas, Cirrus Logic designs highly optimized products for a variety of audio and energy-related applications that are used in smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
