Boeing Wins $195 Million for Special Ops, Other Defense Contracts

The Department of Defense issued $10.92 billion worth of new and amended defense contracts on Friday -- a mind-boggling 113 separate contract awards in all. Of these, Boeing , the nation's largest defense contractor by market cap, won four:

  • A new $78.2 million non-multi-year, no option, firm-fixed-price contract to fix the price on a delivery order to supply the U.S. Army with seven MH-47G Chinook helicopters modified for special forces operations.

  • A $69.8 million contract modification to build and deliver to the U.S. Navy one C-40A Clipper passenger aircraft by November 2016.

  • An indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract worth up to $24 million to provide the U.S. Navy with engineering and technical services related to the Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System, or RTCASS, stations through September 2018. RTCASS is a mobile system used to test and troubleshoot aircraft electronic systems and subsystems such as flight controls, radar, and electronic warfare systems.

  • And an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract worth up to $23 million, for work on the Degraded Visual Environments, or DVE, system. DVE integrates information from aircraft sensors to increase situational awareness for MH-47 Chinook and MH-60 Seahawk special ops helicopter aircrews. As with a similar contract awarded to Rockwell Collins on Thursday, this contract will run for up to 60 months, ending no later than Aug. 31, 2017.
