Office Depot First U.S. Office Supply Store to Announce in-Store Customer Experience of the Cube® 3D Printer

Denver is First City in Planned Nationwide Rollout to Experience 3D Printing With Hands-on Exposure to the Latest Technology

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today, Office Depot, Inc. (NYS: ODP) , a leading global provider of office supplies and printing services, expands the online availability of Cube and CubeX™ 3D printers by conducting an in-store pilot program in its downtown Denver location (1585 Wynkoop St.). The program includes a hands-on customer experience that is designed to help the Company better understand how it can more effectively provide 3D printing solutions nationwide.

Denver shoppers will be able to experience 3D printing, including a live Cube printing demonstration and the ability to purchase the product in store -- a first for any office supply store.

According to recent data1 (Wohlers Report 2013), 3D printing has seen 27 percent growth over the past three years, and is predicted to reach $3.1 billion by 2016 and $5.2 billion by 2020. As an established leader in 2D print products, Office Depot is responding to its commitment by bringing new and pioneering products and services to businesses, artists and hobbyists.

Now through early November, Office Depot's Denver store associates will provide a full demonstration of the Cube's innovative 3D printing capabilities while customers witness the technology that allows creativity to be reimagined firsthand. This downtown location is the first of Office Depot's new format stores where consumers are invited to have a hands-on experience with the technology before making a purchase. In this scenario, customers can select and walk away with one of the 25 sample objects designed by professional artists.

"Denver is rich with small businesses, product designers and students interested in designing, printing and manufacturing three-dimensional objects," said George Hill, Office Depot's Senior Vice President of Copy and Print Depot. "At Office Depot, we know seeing is believing and we're excited to bring the 3D printing experience to Denver."

To support the launch, Office Depot will be giving away one Cube 3D printer (a $1,299 value). Simply enter the drawing in the Office Depot Wynkoop location between now and November 10. A recipient will be selected on November 10.*
