Joseph Gordon-Levitt Is IMDb's First-Ever Guest Editor

Gordon-Levitt to Curate IMDb's Homepage for Two Days Beginning Tomorrow (September 27); Relativity Distributes his New Film, Don Jon, Opening Nationwide on September 27.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IMDb, the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content, and next-generation studio Relativity have announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Looper) will be IMDb's first-ever guest editor beginning tomorrow (September 27). Don Jon, Gordon-Levitt's highly anticipated, daring directorial debut, opens in theaters nationwide on September 27. Gordon-Levitt also wrote Don Jon, which he stars in alongside Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore.

For a two-day period beginning on September 27, the IMDb homepage (www.imdb.com) will be curated by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has provided his personal top 10 lists, an original video and a clip from Don Jon. He will also conduct a live 30-minute Twitter chat hosted by IMDb on September 27 at 5pmET/2pmPT. Participants should follow @HitRecordJoe and @IMDb and use the following official hashtag: #DONJONonIMDB.

"I love movies, so like everyone else, I use IMDb all the time," said Joseph Gordon-Levitt. "And getting the chance to turn people on to a bunch of movies that I love, I thought that sounded cool."

"This is the very first time in IMDb's 20-plus year history that we have invited anyone to personally curate our homepage," said Col Needham, IMDb founder and CEO. "And we couldn't be more honored that a true IMDb fan-favorite is taking the reins: Joseph Gordon-Levitt ranked #4 on the IMDb top 10 stars of the year list in 2012 and currently rates among the top 20 actors in the world on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart. Both lists are determined by the actual search behavior of our more than 160 million monthly users worldwide."

"Relativity is always looking for creative ways to connect our movies with audiences," said Liz Jones, Senior Vice President of Digital Marketing for Relativity. "With this collaboration, the brilliant Joseph Gordon-Levitt is talking directly to IMDb users and sharing his original voice and vision for Don Jon."

Don Jon , a provocative, fun and appealingly frank comedy, which opens nationwide on September 27, marks Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut. The film follows Jon (Gordon-Levitt), a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to "pull" a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn't compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she's determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy.

"I thought a romantic comedy about the relationship between a guy who watches too much porn and a girl who watches too many romantic Hollywood movies would be hilarious and get to the point," said Joseph Gordon-Levitt. "That's how it started. I wanted to tell a love story. But what I've observed is, what often gets in the way of love is how people objectify each other."
