Boeing, Textron, and United Technologies Win Pentagon Contracts
The Pentagon announced 86 separate contract awards on Thursday worth a combined $7.55 billion. Yet out of all these contracts, the nation's biggest defense contractor by revenues, Boeing won only two:
a $9.2 million firm-fixed-price contract to supply the Navy with a single F/A-18E/F and EA-18G AN/APG-79 "Active Electronically Scanned Array Integrated Radar Facility Configuration top Assembly Radar Bench System" by May 2014
and a $6.8 million delivery order to upgrade ARC-210 Gen-V radios on C-32A executive transport and C-40B special mission aircraft for Air Mobility Command, to ensure the radios meet the Cryptographic Modernization program requirements for communications security. This work is to be completed by March 31, 2015.
Other aerospace firms winning little of the Pentagon loot included:
Textron , whose Bell Helicopter division won a single delivery order worth $34.3 million to repair and overhaul five unspecified items aboard U.S. Marine Corps AH-1W SuperCobra helicopters by Sept. 20, 2014.
United Technologies , whose Pratt & Whitney subsidiary won a contract worth up to $6.7 million to supply the Air Force with spare aircraft engine turbine disks through April 29, 2016.
