NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- John J. Hallacy has joined Assured Guaranty Municipal Corp. (AGM), Municipal Assurance Corp. (MAC) and Assured Guaranty Corp. (AGC) as Managing Director, Public Finance, the companies announced today.

"We are very pleased to have John on board," said Dominic Frederico, President and Chief Executive Officer. "With over 35 years of active participation in the municipal market, John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Assured Guaranty."

"John will make an immediate contribution to our public finance group, with responsibilities in several important business development areas," said Bill Hogan, Senior Managing Director of Public Finance. "He will be a regular contributor to our weekly municipal publication, develop and enhance the company's retail marketing effort and support new business origination. His extensive professional history, which encompasses both investment banking and bond insurance, fits right in with Assured Guaranty's leadership position in the municipal bond insurance business. It's a pleasure to welcome him to the team."

Mr. Hallacy's most recent position was as the Managing Director, Head of Municipal Research with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In addition to his highly regarded accomplishments as a sell-side municipal analyst, he has significant experience in the bond insurance industry. He helped to establish two bond insurance companies and ran underwriting groups at both FGIC and MBIA. He started his career with Standard & Poor's (S&P) focusing on credit rating analysis across multiple sectors. He is a well-known speaker on topics related to the municipal market.

"This is an exciting time to join Assured Guaranty," said Mr. Hallacy. "The benefits of bond insurance are clearer than ever, and its new muni-only bond insurer, Municipal Assurance Corp., is positioned to expand the market. It's great to be part of the industry leader."

In his new role, Mr. Hallacy reports to Chris Chafizadeh, the head of New Business Origination.

AGM, MAC and AGC provide municipal bond insurance in the U.S. public finance market. Additionally, AGM guarantees international public finance transactions and AGC guarantees structured financings worldwide. The companies are U.S. subsidiaries of Assured Guaranty Ltd.
