Prudential Investments launches global infrastructure fund
NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Prudential Investments today announced the launch of the Prudential Jennison Global Infrastructure Fund (NAS: PGJAX) , a fund that invests primarily in infrastructure and related publicly traded securities and companies around the world. Prudential Investments is the mutual fund business of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYS: PRU) , offering a range of open and closed end funds.
"Global population growth and urbanization trends combined with the need to replace ailing infrastructure in developed markets has created trillions of dollars in demand for infrastructure projects," said Stuart Parker, president of Prudential Investments. "This fund offers investors an opportunity to potentially benefit from these global trends."
Jennison Associates' portfolio managers Shaun Hong and Bobby Edemeka are managing the fund. Beginning with a broad universe of companies, the management team, which also includes three analysts, will focus on a smaller group of stocks based on attractive company fundamentals, emerging themes and other trends. After rigorous bottom-up, fundamental, research-based strategic analysis, the portfolio managers will build a portfolio of 70 to 90 securities. Together, the portfolio managers have been managing assets in the same strategy for institutional investors for more than five years. Their utilities investing experience stretches back more than 19 years.
While the fund uses the S&P Global Infrastructure Index as a benchmark, Hong and Edemeka use a total return strategy that looks beyond the index to define infrastructure as companies that own, operate, develop and service infrastructure assets.
"Infrastructure may provide investors with diversification within their portfolios, along with consistency, given that many of the companies in this sector provide necessary services no matter which economic cycle we're in," Hong said. "The fund also offers a potential hedge against inflation because infrastructure contracts often allow prices to rise with inflation."
The fund is available in the following share classes: A: PGJAX, C: PGJCX, Z: PGJZX.

Mutual fund investing involves risk. Some mutual funds have more risk than others. The investment return and principal value will fluctuate, and shares, when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost, and it is possible to lose money. There is no guarantee a Fund's objectives will be achieved. Sector funds may not be suitable for all investors. Such funds are non-diversified, so a loss resulting from a particular security will have greater impact on the Fund's return. The risks associated with each fund are explained more fully in each fund's respective prospectus. Indices are unmanaged and an investment cannot be made directly in an index.
Consider a fund's investment objectives, risks, charges, and expenses carefully before investing. The prospectus and summary prospectus contain this and other information about the fund. Read the prospectus and summary prospectus carefully before investing.
Mutual funds are distributed by Prudential Investment Management Services LLC. Jennison Associates is a registered investment advisor. Both are Prudential Financial companies. Prudential Investments, Prudential, the Prudential logo, the Rock symbol, Jennison and Jennison Associates are service marks of Prudential Financial, Inc. and its related entities, registered in many jurisdictions worldwide.
